This one is about dried cherries!


It takes 6 to 8 pounds of cherries to make 1 pound of dried cherries!

Dried cherries are very low in Saturated Fat, Cholesterol and Sodium. They are also a very good source of Dietary Fiber.

Dried cherries may easily be substituted in recipes that call for cranberries or raisins. They can be added to oatmeal, salads or soups, or eaten by the handful.

This was a great day at the Fish Creek Festival!  The soup at the Peninsula Arts School was delicious – and the bowls that we purchased with the soup are beautiful, – that may be because they were made by Bonnie and Laura Seaquist!  All the bowls at the soup event were very creative, pretty, fun, interesting, – and useful!  Thank you to all who worked so hard to make that such a great event!

“Research from Oregon Health & Science University revealed that runners who drank cherry juice twice a day for seven days prior to and on the day of a long-distance relay had significantly less muscle pain following the race than those who drank another fruit juice beverage.  Researchers believe cherries’ post-exercise benefits are likely because of the fruit’s natural anti-inflammation properties – attributed to antioxidant compounds called anthocyanins, which also give cherries their bright red color.”   (from
